California-Nevada Instant Connection RSS Feed Instructions

Subscribing to the California-Nevada Instant Connection feed
Here are answers to some common questions about using feeds (RSS).

What is a feed?
A feed, also known as RSS feed, XML feed, syndicated content, or web feed, is a vehicle providing the automatic transfer of selected information from a website—such as http://www.cnumc.org—to your email or Internet browser. As the website’s content is updated, the new information goes into the feed, for you to access without having to visit the website itself.
For example: as new stories are added to the Instant Connection—the News page on http://www.cnumc.org—they automatically populate the California-Nevada Instant Connection RSS feed. By subscribing to this feed you can read those stories just by clicking a button on your browser or Outlook. You can even set it up so that you’re notified whenever something new has been added. No more going to the website to see what’s new, and no more waiting for a weekly email!
How does a feed differ from a website?
A feed can have the same content as a webpage, but it's often formatted differently. In the case of the CA-NV Instant Connection feed, the feed duplicates the format of the Instant Connection email that many of you receive each week: it shows a portion of the first paragraph of each story, along with a link that you may click to read the complete version.
Why subscribe to the California-Nevada Instant Connection feed?
Subscribing to the CA-NV Instant Connection feed gives you the most up-to-the-minute delivery of news from around the California-Nevada Annual Conference. You don’t have to go to http://www.cnumc.org to read the stories—and you don’t have to wait for a weekly Instant Connection email.
After subscribing, how do I view the California-Nevada Instant Connection feed?
After subscribing to the feed, whenever you are on line, you may click on the Favorites Center button or bookmark and select “California-Nevada Instant Connection.” You can choose how often you want the feed to bring you updated content from the Instant Connection, and also choose how many stories you want saved, and whether you want to be notified by way of a bell when a new story has been added.
Does the CA-NV Instant Connection feed subscription cost money?
No, it's free to subscribe.
Are there other California-Nevada Annual Conference feeds?
Yes! For up-to-date information on events and calendar items for the Conference, subscribe to the California-Nevada Events feed.
