Category: OpportunitiesLocation NYC Job Posted 09/24/2008 Download application at: http://cnconsole.brickriver.com/files/oFiles_Library_XZXLCZ/GBGM_JobApp_Oct08_F68MXNGB.pdf Description The primary responsibility of the person in this position is to work within the structure of the General Board of Global Ministries and with the leadership in the United Methodist Church at large to create a climate of awareness of town and rural churches and community within the USA, and acknowledgment of the global aspects of the economic and social dynamics at work; and to network with annual conference leadership/town and rural mission programs to offer resources for response to needs and opportunities. Some essential job functions include, but are not limited to, accountability to the administrative aspect of the position. Extensive knowledge of the broad types of town and rural communities, i.e. farming, mining, forestry, fishing, bedroom and retirement communities, tourism, and the major factors causing devastating economic changes. Requisites Education: Bachelors Degree. Other Specialized Knowledge: Focus on rural sociology, communication and relational skills. Experience: At least five (5) years work experience within the small town/rural setting and with knowledge of strengths and needs of rural churches.
